That's a great question! I think the easiest way to tell if a crystal is real quartz or resin, is to check the temperature of the crystals. Real quartz feels cool to the touch, even at room temperature. A resin crystal will feel lukewarm like plastic. Also, real quartz crystals that I use, like the one in this photograph, commonly have a unique look to the inside of them that simply cannot be replicated by resin crystal molds.
